Where to Stay in Seattle
We stayed at the Hampton Inn & Suites by Hilton Seattle/Northgate. The rooms are spacious and clean. The staff are friendly and helpful. We enjoyed their breakfast. And it’s very close to Northgate Mall, which is America’s first mall. But it’s a 15-20 minute Uber ride to where all the action is.
But if we had to do it all over, we would have stayed in Downtown Seattle, because all the main attractions are within walking distance — Seattle Great Wheel, Kerry Park, Pioneer Square, Seattle Central Library, etc (which we all missed due to lack of time).

Admittedly, Seattle was just a stop-over to Alaska for us (that’s another story). It was not a standalone destination. So we only spent three days, with just one entire day in the city. And we did spend a lot of time in the shopping centers, which we could have used elsewhere. If we had an extra day, we would have explored downtown and surrounding neighborhoods more and spent more time inside Pike Place Market.
We didn’t see a lot in Seattle, but we did see what we wanted to visit. Because aside from Pike Place Market and the Space Needle, there aren’t really other compelling must-see or must-do in Seattle (although there are must-eat places we regret not trying). But it is a beautiful city, and we’re just happy to have visited Seattle.
