Where to Eat in Seattle
Seattle is culturally diverse so there’s plenty of international food options to choose from. But, of course, we wanted to eat what Seattle is best known for, which is seafood, since it’s a port city.
1. Pike Place Chowder
Best. Chowder. Ever.
It’s America’s #1 chowder. No kidding. We ate the award-winning New England Clam Chowder, a thick creamy soup loaded with clams and flavored with bacon, onions, potatoes, cream, herbs, and spices. I can eat this every day! Our daughters who initially ignored the bowls of chowder ended up wanting more. We also had the original Dungeness crab roll, which was delicious.
2. Piroshky Piroshky
A bakery in Pike Place Market, Piroshky Piroshky serves sweet Russian pies, buns, and rolls. We tried the apple cinnamon roll, marzipan roll, and cream cheese vatrushka. Yum!
3. Cupcake Royale
This is a cute place along Pike Street, known for fresh-baked cupcakes, Stumptown espresso, and ice cream, sundaes, shakes, and pint. Cupcake Royale is Seattle’s first cupcake bakery and café. They’re all about local, organic, natural, fresh, and sustainable. And yes, their ice cream is fantastic!
Unfortunately, we didn’t have a chance to eat at other Seattle originals we shortlisted, like Beecher’s, Dick’s Drive-In, Matt’s in the Market, and Le Panier. We did eat at Five Guys (a Virginia, not Seattle, original) because it was close to our hotel and we wanted to try it. Verdict: love the burgers, fries, and unlimited in-shell peanuts.
