We decided to start our California vacation with our kids in Southern California, and what better way to kick off our vacation than LA? Our top travel goals for the quintessential Los Angeles experience: eat at famous fast-food chains, shop at big-box retailers, hit the beach, and visit the home of Disney.
Highlights
- Visit Target. Did I mention my wife’s top travel goal was shopping in the US?
- Eat at In-N-Out Burger for their burgers and fries from the “not-so-secret menu.”
- Eat at Pink’s, the legendary hot dog place. Order the famous chili dogs.
- Stay at Crowne Plaza LAX, which was a pretty decent hotel near the airport.
Day 2: Anaheim
Today is all about just getting settled and rested in Anaheim before the three days in the Disney parks. Getting around LA is via Uber.
Highlights
- Visit Buena Park Downtown. Again, shopping. In this case, Sears, Walmart, Ross, and TJ Maxx. More of a wife/mom thing.
- Eat at Chick-fil-A for their famous chicken sandwiches.
- Eat at Portillo’s for their Chicago-style hot dogs and Italian beef sandwich. Best so far.
- Stay in Best Western Plus Stovall’s Inn, mainly because it’s one of the closest hotels near Disneyland that’s decently priced.
